WSA Winnipeg goalkeeper Evan Barker is in Taipei for the 2017 Summer Universiade as a member of Canada’s soccer team.
The Universiade is a multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation, sometimes referred to as the World University Games.
Canada opened the competition with a 2-0 loss to Uruguay and face Japan on Monday.
Barker is coming off his first full season with the Wolfpack, starting 13 games and ranking among the top in the league in saves.
After the Universiade, he will return to the University of New Brunswick for his sophomore season after winning conference rookie of the year honors in 2016.
